A  properly functioning air conditioning system makes for a safer more comfortable driving experience.

Most probably not so well known is that the air conditioning system in your vehicle is not a fit and forget item. When new your system will work as well as the manufacturer intended, but given time the system can gradually degrade to an unacceptable level.Air Conditioning is not only for hot muggy days. When used in the colder months it will keep the front screen from misting as de-humidified air is passed over it.

Air Conditioning systems should be "exercised" for at least 10 mins a week to enable oil to reach all seals to prevent them from drying and shrinking and also to lubricate the moving parts of the compressor to avoid costly replacements and repairs.

Is your air conditioning failing to provide its original freshness?

As your car air conditioning system ages, you may notice the freshness of the air provided deteriorating. Whenever your air conditioning is operating, moisture in the air condenses on the system's cold surfaces. Whilst most of this moisture drains harmlessly away, some of the moisture remains within the ventilation system after your A/C has been turned off.

This residual moisture provides the ideal living environment for naturally occurring airborne fungal mico-organisms, mildew and mould.Recent national media attention has been focused on a new driving phenomenon named 'Sick Car Syndrome' which scientists believe is caused by the build-up of bacteria. Trapped within the ventilation system, these colonies can combine to produce unpleasant odours and potentially flu-like symptoms.

We would like point out that we do not compete on price with the likes of your quickfit and halfords ,the reason been we do the job as it should be done and not your "waste of time and money top up "There is a big difference in what we do and what they do !They do the job in 15 minutes where as with us it takes about an hour or more. The system is checked for having the correct gas in ,then any gas which is in the system is pulled out and cleaned by the machine .we then vacuum down the system for up to 30 minutes to remove any moisture (and you should never put gas into an unvacuumed system) the vacuum process is stopped after 5 minutes to see if the system is capable of holding vacuum (this tells us if the system has a major leak or not ).Then we add a shot of uv dye so if there are any minor leaks they can be found at a latter date with a UV lamp. Then the correct amount of gas is added to the system . We then run the system up and do various checks. All your quickfits and halfords are doing is forcing some gas  into the system which is not the correct way to do it. Hence the difference in price ,may appear cheaper but in the long run will turn out far more expensive. Please feel free to call us to discuss any aspects of this.

Re-gassing a mercedes for a customer in tamworth. The customer was complaining of a lack of cold air, hooked up the machine checked the pressures which was very low indicating that there was insufficient gas in the system to remove the heat from the cabin.what was left was removed and filtered into the the tank in the machine then the system was vacuumed down for 30 minutes ,after 5 minutes the vacuum cycle was stopped and the gauges checked to see if the system was able to hold vacuum in this case it was able to.all thou this doesn't guarantee no leaks it tells us there is no major leaks. The vacuum cycle also removes any moisture in the system and  creates a vacuumed environment for the gas to put in ,but firstly a shot of uv dye was added so if there are any minor leaks they can be found with a uv lamp at a later date once the dye has worked its way through the system. Then the correct amount of gas was added to the system once that was done the vehicle was started and the A/C  burst into life and was working perfectly a number of pressure checks and checks that the cooling fans were working were carried out. End result one very cool happy customer.
